WELCOME TO YEAR 3's PAGE!

Welcome to Year 3's page. I hope you are enjoying your time at home and you are getting involved with your online learning as well as the learning in your yellow books. Keep a close eye on this page for updates. If you need to contact me you can do so via the school’s email address which is office@sacredheartleeds.org.uk or by using this page! Emails will be picked up by Mr Masley, Mrs Bates or Mr Hubbard who will then send it on to me.

I have been enjoying my time at home with my lovely cat, Adam. I will be sending you updates of what he has been up to and learning challenges set by him. Myself and Adam enjoyed the lovely sunshine we had last week and sat safe inside with the windows wide open. I have been getting creative at home too and I have started a scrap book full of keepsakes and photos. I have also made some things using sticks. See the picture below if you are interested.

I've been keeping myself busy by going on runs and walks. I have also been cooking healthy meals and baking some treats!

Have you spotted any rainbows in people's windows? I saw this giant chalk rainbow on someone's house and couldn't help but take a picture! Comment on the message board below if you see any.

Look what I have spotted! Rainbow rocks in someone's front garden!

EVERYDAY LEARNING

You can complete home learning without the use of the internet. Have a look at the list and picture gallery for ideas.

Here are some suggestions for each week:

W/C 30/03/20
Use your toys to make shadows and draw round them. If you leave them in the same place, do the shadows change during the day?
If you have any seeds at home, plant them in your garden or in a pot and see how your plant grows while you are at home.
Do a still life drawing of your garden or what you can see out of your window.
Complete a traffic survey. How many cars, lorries, bikes, tractors etc. go past your house in one hour?
Find some minibeasts in your garden. Draw a picture of what they look like and create a factfile about them.
Keep a daily diary of what you are up to. Include te date, what activities you did and what you would like to do tomorrow.
Use left over milk bottles to craft with.

Please make sure you are staying active. You can exercise in your house or go on walks. Make sure you do this with an adult.
Use left over egg boxes to make some creations. You could make little monsters or build a house for tiny creatures.

W/C 13/04/20
observe what birds or other wildlife you can see in your garden/around your home. Make a tally chart of how many you see or if you see an animal you don't recognise, look it up and create a fact file for it.
write or draw a message to stick on your window for your neighbours to see.
Help your adults recycle at home by designing a litter sorting bin.
Visit this website with the help of your adults - https://collins.co.uk/pages/support-learning-at-home?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Home%20Learning&utm_term=home%20learning&utm_content=Home_Phrase#Primary

Make your own compost - https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/special/children/composting-ideas-for-kids.htm
Bake and cook with your adults.
Have you ever tried sewing? Ask your adults if you can try cross stitching as its one of the easier stitches.
When you are out walking, try and spot all the new plant life and baby animals. Can you make a scrap book of what you find?

W/C 27/04/20
Create a lifecycle poster about one of these animals: frog, rabbit, chicken, human.
Try some fun science at home - https://pstt.org.uk/resources/curriculum-materials/Science-Fun-at-Home
Write a film review of a film you have watched recently.
Write a letter to anyone of your choice. It could be family that you miss, an adult in school etc. Either post this - if you know the address - or hold onto it so you can give it to the person when you next see them.
Write about your favourite memory of year 3. You can share this with us when we are back at school.

W/C 04/05/20
Create a quiz for you family - it can be on the computer or on paper.
Create a quiz to share at a class zoom meeting.
Draw a picture of a fantasy creature/animal. Give this animal a name and then write a description of what it likes to eat and why.
Make a tiny maze out of cardboard and recyclables. A shoe box would be the perfect size for this.
Test your adults or siblings on their times table knowledge. Have a competition if you can

W/C 11/05/2020
Try some toilet roll art! See the pictures in the gallery for ideas.
Stick art - ask your adults for help as you will need strong hold glue, sticks and cardboard. See my creation for inspiration.
