Parents  »  Health

We are a healthy school. We have provided some useful information about how we, and you as parents and carers, work together to promote the health of your child.

Diarrhea and vomiting
You must exclude your child from school if they have symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting. This advice applies for 48 hours after symptoms have applied because they are still infectious during this period.

Head bumps
We send a form home in your child's book bag should they ever receive a bump on the head. This includes medical advice, including circumstances in which your child should be seen at hospital.

Head lice
There's no need for your child to stay off school if they have head lice. But we do ask you to treat your child by wet combing to help prevent the spread of lice to other children. For further information see:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/

Influenza
Flu can be a very unpleasant illness for children, with potentially serious complications. School nurses offer the children's flu vaccine as a yearly nasal spray to all children in school to help protect them against flu.

Measles, mumps and rubella
We strongly encourage you to ensure your child is fully immunised against measles, mumps and rubella infection (MMR). Two doses are needed by the time children reach school age. For further information see: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/mmr-vaccine/

Medicine
We are able to administer precribed medications to your child with your permission. Further information is in our Medical Conditions Policy.

Minor accidents
We keep a record of minor accidents in school. The form includes date, name of child, description of incident, first aid administered and name of attending staff. We send a copy home in your child's book bag.
