Welcome to Reception, the first step in your child's exciting adventure through school. In Reception, your child will be supported to learn through play. They will be encouraged to access both indoor and outdoor provision, and opportunities for play based on their individual interests are provided throughout the year. Through supported play, your child will extend their vocabulary, develop a good foundation in their understanding of numbers, and make progress by sustained and shared thinking. Your child will have ample opportunity to explore, develop and use their curiosity and imagination to help them make sense of the world in a stimulating environment. They will make friends, have fun and learn essential skills such as active listening to prepare them for their educational journey. Every term your child will have plenty of opportunity to visit their local surroundings enabling them to explore the environment around them and gain new experiences. By the end of the year they will be well prepared and ready to succeed in Year 1.
